2020: A year without regrets ~ Pastor Ituah Ighodalo

And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. Genesis 19: 30-32 KJV

Genesis 19: 30 – 38

We have almost a crisis in this country and a lot of people are not aware of it. This country has some of the most productive resources than can be found anywhere in the world. We have a serious, looming problem in this country and it is time for us to act and make this year 2020 going forward we begin to think differently as Christians. We must realize we have power which we must use to make the nation great and a success. Don’t say it doesn’t concern you, don’t lose your right as a people.

The bible us in the book of Genesis 19 reading from verse 30 of a man called Lot. Lot was the nephew of Abraham and he had only 2 daughters.

The 2 daughter had intercourse with their father and each had a son, the first –Moab and the second Ammon. These children both became a kingdom their rights.  The first problem that the Jews had with the Isrealites was when they were leaving Egypt was 500 years after the birth of Moab in Genesis 19.

That piece of land called Israel was originally the land of Canaan; it belonged to the progenitors of Lot and Ishmael. But the intent of God was that the land was reserved for the Jews.

Abraham and his people had to fight on a daily basis to have and live in the land. This is why we continue to fight in the spiritual to occupy the land that God has given to us.

Therefore, I have these things to say;
  • In life we cannot to make a mistake. One simple mistake can throw you off the normal course of your life, it can have repercussion for life and until eternity.
  • The issues of sex, intercourse and premarital sex affects the course of a person’s life. It can change the course of your life for all time.

This year 2020 is not the year to make any mistakes. You cannot afford to make any mistake that will send you back or change the course of your life.

Have you made a mistake that has changed the course of your life? Turn to God and ask Him for mercy that will repair your past to change the present so that your future will be successful.

Some people have already started 2020 with mistakes, wrong choices and taking the wrong steps. If you find yourself in this position; look back and correct it by seeking Christ.

The forth things that affects man is the mistakes that we make. Mistakes are extremely costly. It has been proven that 1 mistake in a person’s life can take about 10-20 years to resolve. What we have read in Genesis 19: 30-38 tells us that some mistakes can have effects that spans generations.
  1. He married the wrong woman
  2. He was indecisive person
  3. He was willing to give his daughters out to men
  4. He was a lazy man not ready to apply himself the way he should have
  5. He was a bit of a greedy person
  6. He was a bit of disrespectful person. When Abraham gave him the option of choice he should have deferred to his uncle
  7. Which is the greatest mistake, he did not hear from God before he made his choices

He made the 8 mistakes that ended up being the first man to commit incest in the bible. Every product of disobedience to the words of God results in mistakes that have lasting effects on our life and that of generations to come.

What foundation are you building on?

What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? Ezekiel 18:2 KJV

What harvest are you sowing? Is the journey of your life that which God has planned for you? For God himself says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29: 11 KJV. Or is the journey of our life that which our grandfather, and other preceding generation has mapped out for us? Or maybe it is one we have unknowingly choosing for ourselves?

A lot of us are reaping what we did not sow, with lives built on a foundation that we have no idea about. Some of us because of our foundation and lineage, we find ourselves facing challenges that we should have overcome. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Psalm 11: 3 KJV

What our forefather sowed has in many ways affected us. If you find out you have been stuck in a rot, everything happening in the same way in spite the effort in prayer and hard work, then we need to find out the reason behind being stuck in one place.

The parents have eaten sour grapes, yet it is the children who are on edge. This is the case for a lot of us. We reap the result of the seeds that generations before us have sown. However, the word tells us that this should not be so. As I live, says the Lord GOD, you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Ezekiel 18: 3-4

Accepting that this shouldn’t be so I the first step to freedom, acknowledging and accepting the gift of salvation and freedom that Christ gives is the key.

We must enjoy serving God. While we serve God, things must change in our lives and if they don’t then it is important for us to find out where the problem is and work it out.

Sometimes all that we need to do is to make positive confessions with out mouth. A lot of us have heaped hardships and challenges on ourselves just by the words of our mouth.

How does illness manifest in the physical? pt 2

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15: 26 KJV

Physical carelessness can bring sickness our way. The food we eat and the way we eat result in illness for a lot of people. We are what we eat. Some eat too much without knowing when to not eat and how to not eat. A lot of us we physically mess up ourselves because of what we eat. We are to eat those meals that will benefit our lives and health. A change in diet can result in the change in the physical well being of an individual.
Sometimes illness comes because of bad hygiene.

Lastly some illness are manifested in the physical due to emotional problems that we put ourselves into, most of which can be avoided. The word says, Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Prov 13:12 KJV. Some people are sick not because they have spiritual or physical problems but because they are emotionally down. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4: 23 KJV. A lot of us are bitter, weak, frustrated in our heart. We have allowed the challenges of life to dictate how we see life. Our bad emotional state embitters us and sours our life. This is manifested in physical illness that has no medical solution. This is why we go to the hospital and doctor says they can’t find anything wrong in our life. Emotional illness can also result from trying to living above our means; wanting to have more than what we can afford and pay for.

There is a reason that people have spiritual illness that leads to physical illness.

  1. Living and walking in sin. The word says the soul that sins will die. Death is the ultimate result of living a life of sin. The death is spiritual and when the soul is dead all forms of physical manifestations begun to happen.
  2. Disobedience to or dishonour of parents. Exodus 20: Our days will be shortened when we dishonour our parents. It doesn’t matter who or what your parents are it is only important that we abide by the words and command of God to honour our parents.

It is more important to go to the one true God who is the source of all life. Life will turn out right for you if you just take things easy. Make a conscious decision to have a change today. Living in spiritual, physical and emotional wellness. When you are connected to God your emotion will be flowing with the joy of God and this will be your strength. This strength will become strength manifested in your physical.

How does illness manifest in the physical? Pt 1

In the life of the early fathers of the bible, people lived to a very long time. They slept in the Lord and there was no record of any dying as a result of sickness. At the beginnings of time man lived long because they were close to God and lived right, however, as man become distant from Him the length of their days became shorter.

God’s original plan is for us to live in good health. He said, beloved I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers. Therefore, God does not desire for us to be ill. It is God’s desire that we are in good health. Now, Elisha was falling sick of the sickness of which he died. 2 Kings 13: 14.

People fall ill or die for several reasons, but all sin can be from 3 main areas of our lives. These are;

  1. The spiritual
  2. The physical
  3. The emotional

These are the 3 main sources of people’s illnesses. Really, the main source of ailment is the spiritual and this spiritual sickness is manifested in the physical and this may result in the emotional. Sickness is a messenger of death. Every time we are ill we depreciate in body and strength but it is death that is registering its register and it is telling us that we are not immortal..

The spiritual itself is broken down further. Some spiritual illness arises from foundational problems, foundation inheritances and agreements that our parents or their parents have entered into on behalf of the family. So many afflicted with one illness or the other have been appointed to die because their is a family covenant hovering over their life.  Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die. Psalm 79:11 KJV.

From the day of birth some of us have been marked as a result of things that occurs in the generation and lineage we are born into. Some people have been bound by Satan; Satan has overwhelmed their life and these people have difficulty getting healing. In Luke 8: 43-48 the woman with the issue of blood was bound by Satan and she went through the physical manifestation of the bondage for 12 years until she found release by touching the hem of Christ’s garment.

Sometimes the spiritual illness may be as a result of fresh attack by the enemy. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. Job 1: 9-10 KJV. Satan attacks children of God for no other reason than what he gave to God concerning Job.

Succeeding in the midst of adversity

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26: 12-14 KJV

Isaac sowed in that land. Today we will be looking at success. What is success to you? How do you define success? Success is obtaining or achieving the desired effort; accomplishment of a purpose; fulfilling your God given purpose.

I believe that success is the fulfillment of your potential in life, hopefully achieving all that one can achieve and getting to the ultimate peak of one’s purpose in life. Success should come with all benefits; good health, financial benefit, spiritual benefit, social benefit, economic benefit, marital benefit. In essence when we say we are successful as a child of God, it is all-round success that encompasses all areas of life.

Why is it that a lot of people are not successful?

  1. Lack of information or knowledge
  2. Laziness
  3. Lack of discipline
  4. Not following the principles of success
  5. Not utilizing opportunities
  6. Having the wrong focus

How do I succeed in this life?
Have you ever asked yourself that question? Have you thought about success and how to achieve good success?
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 KJV
We need to have the determination to succeed. From the verse above we are given some guides to good success.

In 2018, let us be determined to be successful!

What is the meaning of life? Pt 2

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Gen. 1: 26-27

The first question to ask yourself is this; Who am I? The truth of the matter is that every single human being is useless without God. The bible says we are formed from the ground and we will return to the ground. Gen 3:19. Therefore, without the breath of God (spirit of God) in our life we cannot become a living being.

In practical terms we must define who we really are. We must know who we are, your background, what is your line, your lineage, your personality, your principle, the people who have gone before you. We need to know our character, passion, capabilities, level of faith, and capacity to do things. We must define who we are so that we can do those things God has given us to do. The simple answer to the question is – we are nothing without God. So, the most important thing for us is our relationship with God and the ability to give our life to Christ.  Jesus puts it simply- He is the vine and we are the branches; without him we can do nothing. John 15: 5.

A lot of us misunderstand who we are and we find ourselves in the wrong perspective of life, Therefore, we put God in the wrong place in our life, not knowing that we cannot survive without God.

Why was I created? This is the next question we should ask ourselves. In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1, we are told that there is a reason for everything under the sun and a reason why each and every human being was created. We were created for the pleasure of God; Revelation 4:11. The most important thing is for us to please God. Enoch pleased God and was translated that he did not die. Noah excelled because God was with him. David was great because he was a man after God’s heart. Abraham was great because he please God. Anybody that had succeeded in the bible did so because they pleased God. So, whatever we are doing in life, we must ask ourselves if we are pleasing God with what we do in life.

What am I doing here? What is my purpose in life? And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Gen 2: 15 KJV. Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jer 1: 5 KJV

The most important thing in life starting this year is to find the purpose of your life. Isaiah 6: 8 whom shall I send, who shall go for us? There is a purpose in life for everyone, without knowing what this purpose of creation, we would find it difficult to achieve all-round success.
If we can ask ourselves these 3 questions, then we are on our way to success.

What is the meaning of life? Pt 1

Gen. 1: 26-27

Very few people go to the grave saying; I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 KJV.

Can you beat your chest and say without a doubt in your heart that you are successful? As a matter of fact, most times when people want to die it is usually a death of regret. Some people leave this world smiling while a lot leave with tears in their eyes or with a heavy heart of sadness. Those who have the believe that they have lived a full and successful life, are very happy a lot of the times to leave this life. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Gen. 2: 7 KJV.

We must ask certain questions

  1. Who am I? This is a question I have asked myself on a regular basis even as a young child. It is a question we must always ask ourselves
  2. Why was I made or created?
  3. What am I doing here?
  4. What am I meant to achieve?
  5. Where am I going from here?
  6. Am I in the right place?
  7. Am I where I am supposed to be? (in terms of trajectory or in terms of location)

All these questions are important if anyone is going to put a meaning to his or her life. And get life in the right perspective and get meaning out of life.  We have become too concerned about personal earthly desires and simple aspirations. We need to look deeper than the surface of our life.  A lot of us are going after the things that are of this world. We are too focused on earthly things forgetting that one day all of us will die. It is never a long search to find a coffin for the burial/death of each person. This is why Jesus advised us to not worry about the things of the world.  Matthew 6: 31-33 KJV.

These questions are important and very critical to giving our life meaning, but a lot of us are going after things that should be coming after us. We have become too consumed with earthly desires not realizing that one day all of us will die.
