Turn aside and see (Why is the bush not burning?)

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. Exodus 3: 1-3 (KJV)

Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law and it was at this point in his life that God showed up. I want to tell someone today that God will show up for you.

God came in the flame of fire and Moses looked and behold the bush was not burning. God shows up in ways we do not expect and so we are not sure that it is God. We begin to think that there is something unusual here. So we have to be conscious of what is happening around us. Moses said to himself I am going to turn aside and see. The bible said that it was when Moses was ready to turn aside that God spoke. Moses turned aside from the way he saw things, imagined that it should be and changed the way he saw things.

My prayer for us is that we would miss the time of God, we will not miss the seasons of change. If we look back we will realise that we have missed some seasons of change, seasons of breakthrough. They didn’t turn aside at the appropriate time and missed their season of visitation.

May we not miss our season of visitation. A lady waited 9 years and in that 9th year she got her season of visitation. She got married and and had triplets. A lot of us have been waiting for years, expecting the season of change to come but at the edge of the breakthrough we act in a way that takes that season of change away from us.

Moses missed his season of change big time and he spent 40 years in the wilderness. Some of us at still in the wilderness of life. Let us cry unto God this minute for a visitation and an end to the wilderness journey of our life.

A lot of us are definitely not where we are supposed to be and several things are responsible for the way things are. We need to change the way we are thinking. The bible says be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind

We are not spending enough time in the manual of our life Joshua 1:8. A lot of us have not read the bible this week, month, year. How do we hope to succeed in life? The bible has a warranty for our life and return policy if our life is not working according to the way it should work. For somebody here today, God is going to renew the warranty of our life to the factory setting.

Today will mark the turning point in our life. Start by spending time understanding the manual for your life.

God called unto him out of the midst

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. Exodus 3: 3-4 KJV

A lot of us find ourselves in a position or place that we are not meant to be. Where we are and the situation we are in are not what we expected or anticipated. What we have, where we are and what is happening in our life is nowhere near what we had dreamed about. Our marriage, job or career choice, relationships haven’t turned out like we had planned it. So we find ourselves in a position where we are stuck; not able to go forward or backward.

Why are we stuck? Most of us at one point or the other made a life changing mistake or make some choices that changed the course of our life. The choices we make growing up can change entirely the course of our life and God’s program for our life.

Know this day that God is ready to fight for you and to cause a change in your life. The solution is not to belabor the past and our mistakes but to look forward and seek to reprogram our life to the right path.

I tell you today that you are not going to take the wrong turn. This is why as parents we are to be attentive to our children and the changes in their life. We need to pay attention to our children, we need to be observant to the changes in their life.

He suddenly realized that his life is on the wrong program. The challenge in life is that some people do not know they are in the wrong program. They believe and accept the place where they find themselves. They accept the wrong program for their life and conclude that that is the best they can do and can be.

A lack of knowledge. Illiteracy in high and low places. People are not able to stand on their own and hold people around them and in position of leadership accountable. They fail to know that where they are is not where they are supposed to be. Hosea 4: 6.

We must be determined and desperate to change where we are. We must not allow our life to go into mediocrity.  As long as we accept the situation of our life as it is we will remain there. God needs our co-operation; He needs our participation to change our life.

We must put our foot down and work towards a change in our life, in where we are. In Genesis 40: 12-15, we read of Joseph working to reprogram his life. As we look to God for a change in our life, God will put us in remembrance of the person who will be used to transform our life.

The good news is that God is able and willing to reprogram your life to be on the right track, on the right path. He will enter into your life (if you allow him and ask Him) and make a U-turn that will put you on the path that allows your life to be filled with goodness, joy and success.

Like Moses we need to turn aside and see why things are the way they are. It is after Moses decided to turn aside that He called him out of the program that his life was in and into the program his life was created to be.

How to attract favour

Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: 12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. Genesis 41: 9, 12 KJV

No one can succeed and excel in life without an element of favour. Favour is something we have not benefited, something that is given and gotten not because we are entitled to it but it is unmerited.
Our prayer should be that our favour will not pass us by. The word says that God makes all things work together for good to all those that love Him- Romans 2:28.

We should always be open to favour because it is at our most difficult times that God sends to us our destiny helpers. Sometimes our favour appears as people in a problem, as people who are needy or desperate, people who need our support. However, at that time we are going through challenges and the first reaction is for us to ignore them or turn them away; this is a favour test. Almost every day of our life God is given us a favour test. God brings us to places where opportunities and favour abound and in most cases they a shrouded in a disguise just like Jesus spoke to the people in parables.

Everybody in life needs a destiny helper. The prayer for us all is to not miss this people. Whoever and wherever they are. An ex-convict helped Joseph get to his destiny, a servant introduced David to his breakthrough (Saul’s servant said to the King that David’s songs could dispel demons.), a servant introduced Naaman to his healing. So favour may not come in any form of finery, usually it comes cloaked in a disguise that we usually may take for granted. Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. 1 Samuel 16: 18

Change can come and change can come suddenly. Sometimes our day of favour comes and we do not have the appropriate response to that favour. We have become limited in our own desires and we fail to see what God has prepared for us.

What do you need to do to attract favour? What do you need to do to make sure God remembers you and He lifts you up to the place where you should be?

  1. Know the words of God and live holy
  2. Obedience to the word of God
  3. Have a forgiven heart, forgive people that offend you
  4. Be nice to other people- Be willing to serve other and be a vessel of favour unto others (if you are nice to people God would be nice to you)
  5. Be willing to be sacrificial to other people
  6. Be giving – live a life that is charitable
