Lord Remember Me

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? 2 Samuel 9:1 KJV

2 Samuel 9: 1-10

The Lord remembers you and He will remember you for something special. I want to tell somebody here that God will remember you today. From time to time there is a season when it seems as if God has forgotten us. There are times in a man’s life it looks as if God is no longer interested in them.

In life if we still have breath in us, it means there is hope. This shows human activities, it shows us moving on. Psalm 23 says. "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil".
In Mark 15:24 Jesus cried with a loud voice my God my God why has though forsaken me. Even Jesus Christ experienced 2 times when it felt like God has forsaken Him. The first one was at the garden of Gethsemane and the second was on the cross. He cried in a period of despair just like David did.

Every single human being goes through a period of despair, of darkness, a time when prayers are not answered. What is most instructive in the life of most people is what we pass through in the most trying time.

God will never leave you.
I am reminded of the song “when peace is like a river”?

It Is Well with My Soul
Audrey Assad
When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul
It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed…
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
Source: LyricFind

The song was written by a man who went through a series of calamity in life. When he got to the same spot where the ship drowned, and his 4 daughters drowned and died he sang the song. Claiming that it is well with his soul even amid the calamity and pain that had befallen him.

Know of a fact that it is well with your soul. No matter what you may be going through, issues in your marriage, problems with your children, financial challenges, health challenges, mental challenges; I tell you this day and as you read this that it is well with your soul.
Say this to your soul daily and accept it, that it is well with your soul.

In every season of your life, remind yourself that despite whatever it is in your life you are going through it is well with your soul. Whatever you call a thing is what it is. If you call it a sickness that is what it is, if you call it a pain then that is what it is; if you say it well then it is well.

Did God do badly? No, God never does badly because He knows the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning. So, you must decide when challenges happen in your life there is always something good around the corner if we accept it as a passing phase.

There will be times of testing, times of pain, time when we think that this is the end. Every time we pass through trying times, we come out better for it.

There is only one thing separating you from challenges and success; that is time. The time to overcome and become better is all we need. We should focus on that time and make the best of the time and success is sure.

What is it that you are going through that is not common to man? Whatever it is there is someone somewhere that has gone through it and someone is going through it at that very moment. So, you need to take it easy.

God will make it up for you because there is something that happens to every great man and victorious person who calls him/herself a champion. This thing is called the moment of depression, a time when they felt like giving up. There are times when this great men and women don’t feel like talking to anyone, times when they don’t feel like even getting up from bed. However, they don’t give up, they get up and keep fighting.

Your break is coming tonight because today as you read this message God is going to remember you!

And then…………..David encouraged himself in the Lord

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30: 1 KJV

 Text: 1 Samuel 30: 1-8

The Lord says He is our help in ages past. We see in verse 8 that before David made a move he asked God first. Rather than live in peace with one another we are fighting ourselves. We must come together and work in unity to fight against the common enemy.

God is saying to us, ‘it is time for us to arise’. As a people, as a nation it is important to live for the common goal.

Have you you asked God for a way forward? Are you discouraged? Have your people turned against you? Have you lost everything and the ones closest to you risen up against you? It is time for you to look inwards and encourage yourself. Let the courage to move on and overcome from Him who has all the answers.

David encouraged himself in the Lord. Instead of him to fight with the ones closet to him that wanted to stone him because they have lost their wealth and family while following him; he chose to turn to God. He didn’t take a step without first looking to God and asking for His will.

David said God my peace, my strength, the redeemer of my soul; see the number of people who have risen up against me. Even my own brothers have risen up against me.

God was there to fight the battle and give him victory; for there is nothing that is impossible for the Almighty to do.

God is ready and waiting to arise for you today, this minute. All He is waiting for is for you to come to Him. David asked specific questions of God. David did not need to go to the mountain, nor did he need to seek out a prophet. All he did was to put God first; he worshiped God and sought the face of the Lord.

God said to David ‘you will overcome and recover all’. David went and it was exactly as God had said to him. David pursued and caught up with the enemy; he did not only catch up but recovered all that was taken from them and much more.

What is that reason why you are discouraged? Have you lost hope? Present your letters or petitions before the God of all that you can think of or behold. A king did this and got a most favourable response from the Lord.

Hezekiah got a letter from an enemy king regarding a war. Hezekiah took the letter and spread it before the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the one who’s mercy endures forever and ever. 2 King 19:14  And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

For God to continually be involved in your case

  • You must be in agreement with God. Can two walk together except they be agreed? Amos 3: 3.
  • You must have faith and trust in the Lord and in His word.
  • You must study the word. Study to show yourself approved as a workman who need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth 2 Timothy 2: 15
  • Learn to praise God in spite of every situation or condition that we find ourselves in.
  • Pray without ceasing; seek the face of God by yourself for yourself.

Who do you say you are? Pt 3

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me. Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. Judges 6: 17-18 KJV

Text: Judges 6: 11- 18

You are what God says you are. Until you have an encounter with God you can never know who you really are. So God said to Gideon, “you are a mighty man of valour”.

I want to tell you as you read this that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. My prayer is that you discover who you really are. We have governors who are governing sheep; Moses was governing sheep for his father-in-law instead of governing the children of Israel. For a long time Joseph was governing in Portiphar’s household when he was destined to be govern over nations. So there are many people under-performing. As a matter of fact almost 90% of the world’s population is actually under performing. Then again, a lot of people have died and will die never knowing who they really are and what they could have become. If Joseph had died a day before Pharaoh had the dream he would have died a prisoner. Then they would have written the epitaph of Joseph to read “Joseph stolen from his father’s house, became a houseboy, found himself in prison and died there”. You know in this life you are remembered only for the things that you did and not the things you could have done.

So you must aspire to do all that you need to do before you expire here on earth.

  1. Gideon had no relationship with God, he had not yet experienced God so he thought that God had forsaken His people. What was God doing? God was working extra hard to turn their situation around. God never leaves you, He never forsakes you; He is always looking for ways to solve your problem. He is looking for ways and means to make opportunities happen for you. He is looking for ways and means to transform the mess you have put yourself in. Here you are thinking that God has abandoned you and yet God is working extra hard to make life better for you. I want you to have this at the back of your min, “ALL THINGS are working together for my good”.
  2. The enemy was attacking. The Midianite had come against them and therefore he was hiding. There was an attack over his life; whether we believe it or not the enemy is attacking a lot of us, they are coming against us.  So we are fearful and in hiding like Gideon. Whether you know them or not, whether you have offended them or not; there are some people who just do not want you to succeed in life. Nobody can say what the Israelite did to the Midianites but they came against them. It is very naive to think you can go through this world and this world would be fair. It is naive to go through this world thinking everybody would give you a chance. Naive to think that because you have not offended anybody you are going to go free. There are some people you don’t offend but merely looking at you they are angry with you. Anywhere you go in life there will be someone who doesn’t like you for any given reason; you dress too nicely, you don’t dress nice, you talk too much, you have too many friends, you know the right people, your speak good English, you have a good job, the list is endless. Just focus on what you have to do because it is impossible to please everybody. If you go around wanting to please everybody, you will end up displeasing God and hurting yourself.
  3. His father was an idol worshipper. If you come from a family of idol worship it puts you on a bad foot right from day 1. it puts you in an area of fear and neglect.

The important thing is this, out of all the things that was restricting Gideon 7 was inside of him and 1, only one was against him. The enemies attacking, the remaining 7 were inside of him. This means that most of the failures that we experience is inside us and only one is from outside.

A lot of us focus more on the outside and don’t do anything on what is going on on the inside of us. You are the one making yourself fail because you have written failure into your being. If you can get rid of the 7 the one outside will fall. The minute Gideon got rid of the seven the one outside fell.

Who do you say you are? Pt. 2

There are many reasons why Gideon was not the success he had the potential to be. One is very obvious and I have already mentioned it but there are a few other reasons.
Gideon was not the success he had the potential to be because

  1. He was afraid. What does this mean? If you entertain fear you cannot express faith. There are many people today who are going about the world, they look bold, they look confident and in control but deep down they are fearful and they lack confidence. I used to be like that; I used to dress well, I used to be brash but really deep down I was a little bit nervous, anxious and empty inside. There are many like that. If you are deeply fearful you cannot express faith and you cannot succeed.
  2. Gideon didn’t know who he was. What did he say? He said “I am the least in my father’s house”. A man can be one of 4 people;

    • Who the world has constrained you to be. A lot of the time we are constrained by the world. The bible says that some men are eunuchs because they have been made so by the world. Some men made themselves eunuchs while some are so because they perceived they were born that way. A lot of us have been put in a certain compartment, in a certain place by the world. The problem with most of us is that we chose to remain there. There are of us who people have told us that this is who we are and we have accepted this
    • A man is who he thinks he is. This time around it is Gideon saying to himself that he is the least in his father’s house and his father’s family is the least in the tribe of Manasseh. That is what he told himself; it is he that put himself in that situation. A lot of us think in our mind who we think we are. There are some people that can’t look you in the eye, some people that are always bending down, because they have looked at themselves and said of themselves “I can never ever be a success”. It is all really in your mind, whether you will be a success or not is a choice that we make. I have never read anywhere in the bible where a person is referred to as ugly. God does not create an ugly person, what He does is to create a person suited to the purpose each will carry out in life. So you are what you say to yourself that you are.
    • A man is who people say he is. That is why Jesus spoke to His disciples and asked ‘what do men say that I am?” A lot of people have become what people say they are. When somebody says to you that this is what you are, you go back thinking in your mind that the person must be right and you are possibly wrong.
    • A man is who God says he is, whom God has created him to be. In Judges 6: 12 the Lord said to Gideon that he is a mighty man of valour, this is who God has created him to be.

It means therefore ladies and gentlemen that if you don’t know God you cannot be who you are. No matter how rich or successful you think you are, if you do not know God you cannot truly know who you are. You just go through life thinking that this is who you are but you don’t really know WHO you are. There are many rich people around the world, rich or wealthy by privilege or opportunity, by  virtue of their birth, or God working in their direction but at the end of the day every worldly thing they have accounts to nothing because they don’t really know who they are.

Who do you say you are?

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me. Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. Judges 6: 17-18 KJV

Text: Judges 6: 11- 18

The above passage is a true story of a man Gideon who judged the people of Israel after they got to the promised land. It happened after Joshua had died and at that time they appointed all sorts of Judges to look after the affairs of Israel, There were no Kings because what they had was a Theocracy; God ruling His people Himself through the mouth and  the voice of the Judges and the Prophets. But from time to time the children of Israel would forget their God and do all sorts of evil; whoring, adultery, fornication, idolatry, lasciviousness, enjoying life and God will be angry with them and He will make them weak.

As a result of their sinful act and disobedience God would allow the enemies that surrounded them, the enemies that the children if Israel didn’t refuse to destroy when they entered the promised land, to give them a hard time. This was one of the situations where a group of people called the Midianite, came and they attacked Israel and they laid siege on the them that things were so bad that there was a lot of shortage of food and people could not freely express themselves.

There was a man who’s name was Joash an Isrealite who had a son called Gideon; and Gideon I perceived must have been the youngest , the least favoured child of that family. He was there hiding by the wine press.

The wine press was a hidden part of the house where people could not easily access but they also had a place called the threshing floor which was typically to the left side of the house where people would bring their wheat harvest to thresh and bring out the grain.

This time around they had a little bit of a harvest and instead of threshing it on the threshing floor or where people could see him, Gideon went to thresh it at the back of the wine press to hide it from the Midianites because he didn’t want them to know that they had any form of nutrition. Or he was afraid that if the Midianites attack them, they would take again the food that the family had to survive on.
There are some questions I want you to ask yourself. Questions which are important to understanding the topic. My question to you is this;

  • Why was Gideon hiding in the threshing floor?
  • Why was he not the success that he had the potential to be?
  • What was the reason why Gideon was hiding?

Are you doing your part?

39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Whatsoever you can do and should do, God will not do it. God will do that which He alone can do and you as a person must do that which you should be able to do (for yourself and for others around you). For this reason God created man in His image after His likeness and gave man the ability to create, reason, invent, decide, and chose.

For example when Christ went to raise Lazarus from the dead, He told them to roll away the stone before He raised Lazarus from the dead by calling out to him that he come out. Afterwards He told them to remove his covering. The miracle did not occur until the people had done their part.  Jesus said, Take ye away the stone…. Loose him, and let him go. John 11: 39, 44 KJV

We must understand this concept and know what our role is and God’s role is. It is important for us to know that we have a part to play in the whole scheme of our own success.

What are some of the stones we must remove from our life?

  1. Unbelief
  2. Prayerlessness
  3. Sin
  4. Anger
  5. Unforgiveness
  6. Pride (God resists the proud)

These are stones that blocks the power of miracles and breakthrough in our lives.

We must be persistent - employ shameless persistence - to get to that place where we want to be in our life. Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. Like 18: 5 KJV. Doing this without destroying our values. We must be ready to keep on asking for what we want until we get it in humility and patience.

How well do you control your thought?

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Proverbs 23:7 (KJV).  The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook. Proverbs 18:4 (KJV). He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. Psalms 10:6 (KJV)

Thinking is a normal and natural part of man. Thinking is an activity of the mind that we engage in to process information, solve problems, with it we make decisions and are able to generate and create ideas. Some people's thoughts are creative, others are analytic, some are critical while others are abstract. We hear said that a lot of people react without thinking it out first, this is however not right because for us to carry out an action our mind must first process it first, Without our mind processing a thing we would not be able to bring it to pass or act on it.

Therefore, as children of the most high God our thought processes must be God centered. For as a man thinks that is who he is and how his paths to greatness or not is formed. Who we are today is a summation and collection of our thoughts. The way we dress, the things we say, how we react to people, how we give, when we give, where we go, how rich or poor we are is a summation of our thoughts, even the career path we follow is as a result of our thoughts. Our thoughts is who we are and how we behave.

Our thought is a reflection of the total person we are. Our thoughts speaks even when we are quiet and do not voice our them. From the thoughts of a person and the voicing of the thoughts, we able to determine a lot about the person. We can read them and even predict how far they would be able to go. The state we are in and category of our life is directed by our thoughts, either positive or negative. If we think consistently and normally on positive things, whatsoever we think about will naturally be directed towards us. As out thoughts also obeys a law of attraction, therefore it in important that we attract positives through our thoughts

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.Gen 37:5 KJV. This chapter talks about Joseph's dream and His thoughts. His thoughts came to pass 13 years after, because of his thoughts and his believe upon it he did not allow himself to be deterred by the circumstances of his life. What a man says will come to pass, but before he says it, he thinks it. A lot of us do not do much with our thoughts and allows our thoughts to evolve into a negative life. The life we live is controlled by our thoughts.

The help we get from God is also determined by our thoughts. When we ask God for something, He not only listens to the words we utter from our mouth but he also looks at the sum total of the thoughts of our heart. Every thought we have has to be positive.

Our thoughts are also reflected in the prophesies we receive  and in how the prophesies are fulfilled. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Phil 4:8 KJV.
Today the word of God reaching out to us today is to be mindful of our thoughts, we are to bring our thoughts under the control of the holy spirit. Our thoughts, we must be able to control not only because of the effect it has on the immediate but also on the effect it has on our future.

To us, we must realize that our thoughts form part of the building blocks of our future. As Christians we are also to channel our thoughts to aid people around us to think right. Our future and the positive impact it has on the people around us is dependent on how we think today. Guide your thoughts and check it constantly, bring your thoughts under control to help us on that path to greatness that we are meant to have.

When God does something special

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. Genesis 12:1-4

We are all people of great potential. Every single person under the heavens, are all persons of great potential. Irrespective of who we are, where we come from, or our circumstances we are filled with great potentials.

There is nothing really extra ordinary about people who have done extra ordinary things. Some people have worked their way to be extraordinary, some people have done extraordinary things and some people have been pushed into the extraordinary situation by time and circumstance.
A lot of things would combine or come together to attack the potentials of a man. Example is the brothers of Joseph came together to destroy his potentials. Life is full of difficulties, booby traps and all other things coming together to see we do not get to achieve our full potential

They set booby traps and limitations before Abraham so that he would not reach his potentials

  1. He was given a name that was incomplete, not the full potential of what it should be
  2. He was born into a family of idol worshipers
  3. they were afflicted with barrenness
  4. He was still living in his parents house at 75 years
It is a terrible thing not to be able to do the right thing t the right time. As Christians we are to walk circumspect and walk on the right path. As much as the enemy can, they cannot stop your greatness. The combined and tried they didn't stop the progress of Abraham, David, and Joseph.

If God does not put you in their hands they can not slow you down or stop you, You will move according to your time. The wickedness of people cannot stop you from getting to where you are going. The only person that can stop you is yourself. A lot of us are moved by the things that we see with our physical eyes.

As Christians it is important that we empower ourselves. Living the life we live in Christ one day at a time. Most importantly we are not to be put down by the things we hear and see. When it is time to elect the best among men, the man who is not held down by limitations is the one that is selected.

After Abram left the familiar in obedience to the word from God, all those limitations that the enemy seemed they had put in place to stop him from reaching his potential were utterly shattered. God changed his name and He became a blessing by which all children of God were called. The shroud of barrenness was removed from his life and he became Lord of his own house.

Sin against your body?

Of all the commandments that God gave to man, the one that warns us off adultery is the only one that is a sin against your body but the rest is a sin against our fellow man. When we commit adultery we defile own own body and cut short our destiny and purpose in Life as a Christian. With sexual promiscuity we sign a covenant with our sexual partner, this covenant forms a link and bond that can only be broken through prayers and intervention from God. "Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?" Isaiah 49:24

As Christians it is important that we believe in God; secondly we have to read, learn from and believe in the word of God. The word of God shows to us who God is and believing in the words draws us closer to God. We move from knowing of God to actually knowing who God is.

The fulfillment of God's promises to man is dependent on how well we fulfill the conditions of the promises. We as Christians owe it a duty to ourselves to read the word, find out what is in it and how it applies to us. God's word is man's user manual and it cannot be manipulated to suit our desires. Just like we would not buy a device and discard the instructions on the user manual to do things our way, the same applies to God's words.

Leviticus 20: 10-22 says that a man or woman that commits adultery (which also includes fornication) opens a door to the enemy to operate in his/her life. Adultery is a sin against our body and our own self; and we know that our body is the temple of God in which the spirit of God resides.  "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" 1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV

Reuben went in to his father's wife and this action waited for him at the point of receiving his blessings. Genesis 49: 3-4. "Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch". Gen. 49:4 KJV. Even though his father acknowledged Reuben as the firstborn, his might, and the beginning of his strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power; he however brought to remembrance the sin of fornication he committed and did not bless him.

Proverbs 6:26 says for by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. The act of adultery puts your career in jeopardy. Sex outside and before marriage makes the Christian meat for the enemy. Any Christian in a position of leadership that indulges in sexual promiscuity will not be a good leader. 2 Samuel 12:14 "Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die." Such a Christian leader allows the enemy to blaspheme the name of the Lord God.

Since adultery is a sin against our body and the temple of God, some problems and life challenges would rise from it. Some of the problems could be terminal; some could be eternal; while others could be for a space of time. Whatever the case the sin of adultery drags with it the rewards thereof. Some of this problems or life challenges can be seen below.

Problems that arise as a result of premarital sex
  1. You have major problems on the earth Proverbs 5:4
  2. It leads to diseases
  3. It's a guarantee of hell
  4. It makes you give your honours to others and your years to the cruel. Proverbs 5:9
  5. Sex makes you age and look more matured than your age (you lose your youthfulness)
  6. Death without instruction Proverbs 7:7-16
  7.  Indulging in sexual promiscuity means you might not make heaven 1Corinthians 6:9

The Power of God

And he said unto him, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us?” Exodus 33:16

The presence of God in the life of man is power and the existence of God is His power. God’s power is evident all around us. In everything we see and touch, everything we can feel. It is by His power alone that we are alive and standing here.

It was this power that changed the live of a poor man in the land of Israel during the reign of King David. As the ark of God was been accompanied back to the temple it shook and Uzzah thought to help so the ark doesn’t fall. The presence of God in the ark which could not abide sin gave an instant punishment. However, that same presence and power worked differently in the life of Obed Edom. When the ark was taken into his home instead of death it brought grace. Obed Edom enjoyed the grace that spoke for him and brought him before the king.

God’s power is found in the word and promises he has given to us. When we talk about the power of God; we talk about His presence and his grace that changes lives. The power of God removes from our life shame and fear. Which is why Paul said "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." For the power of is evident in the gospel of Christ.
How do we assess the power of God?
  • By prayer and fasting Matt 9:29
  • By exercising our faith (you can only work in faith when you walk in faith)
  • Studying and meditating upon his words Joshua 1:8
  • By serving in obedience and without complain
  • By been consistent in or walk with and work for God

Wisdom for Life - The Secret Things

"These proverbs can even add to the knowledge of the wise and give guidance to the educated, so that they can understand the hidden meanings of proverbs and the problems that the wise raise." Prov 1:5-6 GNB

The book of proverb was written by King Solomon, the son of King David who was the friend of God. While David was about to meet his maker he imparted unto his son wisdom he had acquired over the years. He said to his son, "There would be a day that God would visit you and ask you for something. Whatever God asks give it to him. When God asks you to pick a thing, ask for wisdom to fulfill his will and to lead his people."

The words of God are a light to the wise men. They help you to understand the secrets of God.

The book of Proverbs is a book that is filled with sayings of wisdom and they are necessary for daily living because it helps us to:

  1. Know wisdom and instruction to perceive the words of understanding
  2. Receive the instruction of wisdom justice and discipline
  3. Give understanding to the simple minded people
  4. Give wisdom to the wise to increase learning
  5. Understand the the secret sayings of life
The world is shrouded in secrets, hence the reason for so many secret associations, cults and places of meetings that seeks to impart the secrets of the world to their members. People seek out the secrets of the world and in their search for the secret things find themselves in places of darkness.

But there is a secret thing that brings light to those that find it. This secret thing belongs to the Lord our God, but the things which are revealed belongs to us the children of God. The revelation of this secret thing is released to us when we become his children through acceptance of Christ as Saviour and Lord.  Which is why God said in Isaiah 45:3 "And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel."

However, God has kept the information that we seek in the secrecy of his words. God hides his things in secret for the following reasons.......
  1. For the wise to search for it
  2. So that there will be diligent seeking
  3. So that we will first of all fear God before seeking it
  4. So that we can appreciate the things we search for
  5. So that we become a friend to God
  6. Helps us to deepen our relationship with God (Psalm 42:7)
  7. Because secrets of God are precious and anyone who seeks it must deserve to find it
Secret things belong to God; wealth is not cheap. Anyone who has prospered, someone has paid for it. Therefore as children we must pay the price of knowing the secrets of God's word. The greatest relationship to open the doors of secret things of God is to been a friend of God.

Therefore as children of God it is left to us to search out those secret things. We must make it our sole responsibility to seek God's secret so that we may have that relationship that makes us a friend of God.

The Power to do the Impossible!

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." ~Acts 1:8

Every single person or individual needs power. That ability and force to make things happen, to influence people through mutual acceptance and acceptability.
However, a lot of people find themselves in a position where they have become powerless (without power).
Mephiboseth, found himself in such a position of powerlessness. He was the grandson of a King (by birth in line for the throne) but because of circumstances he became powerless not of his own effort but that of others. Sometimes because of ignorance we hand over our power to our neighbour, to the enemy, and to those who can use the power that is ours against us. Esau was in such a situation, he handed over his power (birthright) to his younger brother because of hunger that is fleeting. He never realised the full meaning of the power behind a birthright. A lot of Christians have handed over their birthright through their actions and the choices that they have made. While some have had their power taken away from them forcefully or someone in authority over their life handed over power that should be theirs without their consent.

Why would you need power? When you have the power to do the impossible, your life will never be the same again. Your life and situation would experience a great and mighty change. You will have a peace that man cannot touch or shake. The power to do the impossible will put you before your maker.

  1. We need power to get ourselves back on the track of life
  2. With the power to the impossible you can turn impossible situations around
  3. We can turn around our lives from the mistakes we made
  4. We need power to do those things God command Gen 1:28
  5. With power you can restore yourself to a position of riches and honour Deut 8:18
  6. With power you can command the elements and do the seemingly impossible Ps 78: 26-27
Without power we loose our peace and enter into a state of fear and uncertainty.

It is through power that man is able to prepare for his future. Power when you are young to prepare and store what is needed for your old days.

How do we get this power?
  1. Acts 1:8 Through the holy spirit coming upon you
  2. Deuteronomy 8:18 When you remember the Lord thy God
  3. Eccl 5:9 As a gift from God
  4. John 1:12 Receiving and accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour
  5. Prov. 3:27 By not withholding from whom it is due
  6. Romans 1:16 Not been ashamed of the gospel of Christ
